Choose the operation and target
Before recording, tap an operation in the left column, then on the Capture tab choose what this footage is for: global classes, teaching video, model material or error sample.
In short
- In the left column, tap down to a specific operation; "Current operation" then shows in the right column.
- On the Capture tab, choose a target: teaching video, model material, global classes or error sample.
- An operation needs a teaching video before you can record model material for it.
Step 1: tap an operation in the left column
In the left column, tap down to a specific operation. Above the Capture tab in the right column, "Current operation" appears, for example "Pen assembly (Released) › Insert refill". If no operation is selected, it shows "Select an operation on the left".
- If you cannot find your operation in the tree, press Refresh next to "Operations". If it is still missing, ask a technician to add it on the platform.
- You cannot change the operation while recording.
Step 2: choose the capture target (four types)
On the Capture tab, choose what this footage is for:
| Type | In plain words | What else to choose |
|---|---|---|
| Global classes | Things the whole company needs to recognize, such as hard hats and gloves, not tied to any operation | Choose a detection class |
| Teaching Video | Record the standard way of doing this operation: do it correctly once from start to finish. The system uses it to learn which steps the operation has | Nothing else |
| Model material | Footage that teaches the machine to recognize parts. SOP footage = record the whole operation as usual; part footage = record one particular part on its own | Footage type (SOP footage / part footage); for part footage, also choose a "Model class" |
| Error sample | Scenes the machine got wrong: an alarm when nothing was wrong (false alarm), or no alarm when something was wrong (missed detection) | Step, reason (false alarm / missed detection / other) and note, all optional |

"Mixed classes (several parts)" for part footage
At the top of the "Model class" drop-down for part footage there is always an item "Mixed classes (several parts)". Choose it when one clip has several kinds of parts in it; the training side labels every class in the picture.
- Before using mixed classes, it is best to record a separate part clip for each kind of part first (choosing that specific class). The training side relies on it to learn what each part looks like (this is called a "reference frame").
- After choosing mixed classes, if some parts have no separate footage yet, an orange notice "⚠ …missing reference frames" appears below, listing which ones are missing. If the parts are at hand, recording a clip right away is easiest.
Error samples
Once recorded or photographed and uploaded, error samples go to "Hard samples" on the training platform. They are used for training only after a technician confirms them, and are not mixed straight into normal footage. When the machine got something wrong during production and it is hard to describe, use this to reproduce and record the scene.
A few rules
- An operation needs a teaching video before you can record "Model material" for it. Without a teaching video, pressing record pops up "Record a teaching video first"; press Record teaching video to switch to it automatically.
- If the global class drop-down is empty, it says "Your company has no global detection classes yet. Create one before recording". Press Create global class to jump to the Classes tab and create one. See Check the class list.
- When you change operations in the tree, a model class with the same name in the new operation is kept, so you do not need to choose it again.
- If you go to another page and come back, the selected operation and target are still there.
Changing the target does not lose clips
When you change the operation or type and there are clips not yet uploaded under the current target, "Change capture target?" pops up. Those clips are not lost; they stay under the original target, and new clips go under the new target. Find them later with N clips on this device › and upload them. See Review clips and upload.
